USM technology???


There is even more interesting fact that Canon cameras is one of the top choice when choosing camera. Canon has developed its world's first ultrasonic motor or USM. USM in the Canon camera is a kind of electric motor. It is created by the use of the ultrasonic vibration of a component called stator and the rotor. The stator is then placed against another and the rotor or slider depending on the type you are using. The USM for the Canon camera drive motor for the autofocus function incorporated in its EF lenses for EOS series singal lens reflex cameras. Ultrasonic motors work on the fact that the stator vibrate. This result in the force that spin the rotor. Vibration is continuously applied to enhanced the motion, produced a suitable low speed movement with efficient force without the requirement of the gear mechanism. The Ultrasonic motor can produced greater torque than a same size conventional electromagnetic motor. Hence, it is better as it can produce equal amount of torque when using smaller size motor. USM also are good at lowering the noise as it has a very low operating noise. Apart from the ring type ultrasonic motors, Canon has another technology which is the pencil type micro motors. This pencil type micro motors are also use in the digital camera zoom lens. In overall, USM helps improving in the area of size, weight, lesser noise and higher image's quality for the Canon cameras.
